Social Area Analysis
The City of Vienna contracted social area analyses of the two shopping streets Meidlinger Hauptstraße and Mariahilfer Straße. In order to provide a profound basis for design competitions, the focus was on small scale socio-spatial questions: the streets and their surrounding neighbourhoods.The findings were integrated in the design competitions and in a participation process. Furthermore, a checklist for future social area analyses has been developed.
