Reumannplatz New!
Reumannplatz is an urban square in the heart of the Viennese district of Favoriten.
In 2017, the close down of a tram line which had crossed the square opened new spatial potentials for the place.
In September 2017, a participative planning process started whith the aim to create a district centre in touch with the diverse users.
The process began with giving first information, then spatial experiments in co-operation with local NGOs and a planning café.
Many participants contributed their ideas during the multilingual actions: girls and boys, parents, entrepreneurs, bicycle activists, older and younger residents.
They voted for more green space, for good walking connections to the bus stops and for better amenities for play, sports and relaxation, including water elements
and additional seating facilities.

Building on these inputs, tilia worked out a first plan, which was co-ordiated with decision makers in administration and politics.
This first plan was discussed in public on Reumannplatz in November 2017.
As a next step, tilia developed a design concept which was exhibited on Reumannplatz in the winter of 2017. The further planning process is in the hands
of the architects of AGU. Construction works have been
finished in 2022.
